Kuwait Airport Targeted in Iranian Drone Attack, Massive Fire Breaks Out

Regional tensions escalate as Gulf nations report multiple drone attacks amid ongoing conflict

Kuwait City, Apr 1: A series of drone strikes launched by Iran on Wednesday targeted key infrastructure in Kuwait, including fuel storage facilities at Kuwait International Airport, sparking a major fire, according to reports citing the Gulf nation’s civil aviation authority.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation confirmed that drones, allegedly launched by Iran and allied armed groups, struck fuel tanks within the airport premises. Spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi stated that the attack caused a significant blaze at the site but assured that no casualties were reported.

The incident marks a sharp escalation in the region following ongoing hostilities that began on February 28, when US and Israeli forces carried out strikes against Iran. In response, Tehran has intensified its offensive, targeting Israel and allied nations across the Gulf with missiles and drones.

The impact of the conflict has spread beyond Kuwait. Bahrain reported a fire at a commercial facility, attributing it to Iranian aggression, while Saudi Arabia said its air defence systems successfully intercepted multiple drones.

Meanwhile, in Qatar, a tanker north of Doha was struck, though authorities confirmed that all crew members were safe and no environmental damage occurred. A day earlier, a Kuwaiti oil tanker at Dubai Port was also hit in a similar attack, resulting in a fire but no injuries.

The growing wave of drone strikes highlights the widening scope of the conflict, raising concerns over regional security and the safety of critical infrastructure across Gulf countries.
