Ladakh LG’s Residence Renamed ‘Lok Niwas’

New name reflects push for people-centric governance in Ladakh

Leh, Nov 30: Ladakh’s Raj Niwas, the official residence and office of the Lieutenant Governor, has been formally renamed ‘Lok Niwas’.

Announcing the change on X, the Office of the Lt Governor said, “A historic moment for Ladakh. Today, Raj Niwas has been officially renamed as Lok Niwas, symbolising our deep commitment to people-centric governance and inclusive development.”

A photograph shared with the post shows Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta standing beside the newly installed nameplate at the main entrance.

Officials said the renaming reinforces the administration’s intent to strengthen direct engagement with citizens and make governance more accessible. The new title, Lok Niwas, underscores Lt Governor Gupta’s emphasis on transparency, accountability and inclusive development across Ladakh, aligning the institution more closely with public aspirations, they added.
