Lakshya Sen Guides India Into Asian Games Badminton Semifinals
India beat Japan 3-0 in the men’s team event as Lakshya Sen overcame a late challenge from Kodai Naraoka.
AICHI-NAGOYA, Sept 22: India advanced to the semifinals of the men’s team badminton event at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating hosts Japan 3-0 on Tuesday. The victory also assured India of a medal in the team competition.
Lakshya Sen produced a crucial performance in the second singles match, defeating Japan’s Kodai Naraoka after a closely contested encounter. Sen stayed composed in the deciding game after trailing 13-19 and eventually completed the comeback.
India’s victory was completed with strong performances across the team tie, allowing the side to seal a place in the last four without dropping a match.
The result added another medal opportunity for India at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, where the badminton contingent has been among the teams competing for podium finishes.
India will face China in the semifinal as the team looks to progress to the gold-medal contest.
