Landslide at Dangdaro HRT Project in Kishtwar Leaves Two Dead, Rescue Efforts Underway

Rescue teams continue search operations after debris buries project vehicle in mountainous area.

Kishtwar, Mar 16: Two persons lost their lives after a landslide struck a vehicle at the Hydroelectric Race Tunnel (HRT) project site in the Dangdaro area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.

Authorities said the landslide occurred at the project location in Dangdaro, trapping several individuals beneath debris. Emergency teams rushed to the spot and began rescue efforts soon after the incident.

According to information provided by the Indian Red Cross Society unit in Kishtwar, two bodies have been recovered from the rubble so far. The deceased were identified as Shahnawaz Ahmed, a resident of Doda, and Nishat Ahmed from Palmar in Kishtwar district.

Officials said some individuals are still feared trapped following the collapse that struck the project vehicle.

Rescue personnel remain at the site, continuing search operations to locate any other victims believed to be missing. Further details are awaited as the operation progresses.
