On Hindi Diwas, leaders across the nation hailed Hindi as a symbol of unity, culture, and progress, emphasizing its role in shaping a developed and self-reliant India.
New Delhi, Sept 14: As India celebrated Hindi Diwas 2025 on Sunday, leaders from across the country hailed the language as a force of unity and an essential pillar in building a ‘Viksit’ and ‘Atmanirbhar’ India.
Observed annually on September 14, Hindi Diwas commemorates the Constituent Assembly’s 1949 decision to adopt Hindi as one of India’s official languages.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, extending greetings, underlined Hindi’s contribution to strengthening national integration.
“Hindi, serving as a bridge among the country’s languages and dialects, is promoting unity while emerging as a language of technology, science, and research. It has been crucial from the freedom struggle to today’s nation-building journey,” he said.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed similar sentiments, describing Hindi as “a powerful expression of India’s cultural identity and emotional unity.” He urged citizens to preserve and promote Hindi alongside other Indian languages.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called Hindi an “important aspect of the world’s growing interest in Indian culture and traditions,” and lauded linguists working globally for its promotion.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Hindi as “the foundation of India’s unity and guardian of its identity,” adding that the language connects Indians to their cultural roots and must be embraced as a tool of global communication in the digital era.
Leaders across the political spectrum reiterated that Hindi, while coexisting with other Indian languages, will remain a strong unifying force in the country’s vision of development and self-reliance.
