LG Sinha Warns: TRF Propaganda on Social Media Poses Serious Threat, Citizens Must Counter Extremism

SRINAGAR, Sept 27: Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday warned that the social media propaganda spread by the proscribed terror outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF), represents a “serious threat” to public peace and security. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and actively counter the spread of extremist content online.
Addressing a public event, Sinha highlighted the growing influence of social media in spreading radical narratives and extremist propaganda, emphasizing the responsibility of communities to promote awareness and resilience against such malign campaigns.
“The digital space is increasingly being used to radicalize youth and create unrest. Citizens, civil society, and local institutions must work together to counter these extremist attempts,” the LG said.
Sinha also called on social media platforms to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in identifying and removing content that incites violence or promotes terrorism. He stressed that public participation is key to maintaining harmony and preventing the manipulation of impressionable individuals.
