LG to Take Salute at Main Republic Day Function in Jammu CM to Be Chief Guest
Republic Day 2026 arrangements finalised across Jammu and Kashmir, with ministers and officials assigned to lead celebrations in districts and sub-divisions.
Jammu, Jan 15: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has finalised arrangements for the Republic Day 2026 celebrations. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over and take the salute at the main function at M.A. Stadium, Jammu, while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will attend as the Chief Guest.
An official communication from the General Administration Department (GAD) to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Kashmir outlined the assignments for other districts. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary will preside over the Republic Day function in Srinagar, Health and Education Minister Sakeena Masood Itoo will take the salute at Anantnag, Minister Javed Ahmed Rana at Poonch, Minister Javid Ahmad Dar at Baramulla, and Minister Satish Sharma at Kathua.
For district headquarters not covered by these ministers, District Development Council (DDC) Chairpersons will preside, while Sub-Divisional Magistrates will lead celebrations at sub-divisional headquarters. At tehsil, block, and municipal levels, the salute will be taken by the Tehsildar or the senior-most civil officer, as decided by the respective Deputy Commissioners.
The government has directed all authorities to ensure smooth, dignified, and well coordinated celebrations across the Union Territory, highlighting the importance of the national event.
