Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Pays Tribute to Armed Forces on First Anniversary of Operation Sindoor
J&K Lieutenant Governor says armed forces safeguarded national sovereignty with courage after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.
J&K, May 07 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday paid tribute to the Indian armed forces on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, describing the military action as a strong declaration of India’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a message shared on X, Sinha praised the courage and determination displayed by the armed forces during the operation launched after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam in April last year. The attack had claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists, and triggered nationwide outrage.
The Lieutenant Governor said Operation Sindoor reflected the nation’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism and ensure lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the bravery and sacrifice of the security forces sent a clear message that India would respond decisively to threats targeting innocent civilians.
“As we mark the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, we bow in reverence to the men and women in uniform whose unwavering resolve and extraordinary courage delivered a fitting response to the enemy,” Sinha said.
India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 last year, carrying out precision airstrikes on nine terror infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack.
The strikes led to a sharp escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan attempting retaliatory attacks that were largely intercepted and neutralised by Indian defence systems. Military hostilities between the two countries eventually came to a halt on May 10 after hotline-level talks between senior army officials.
Sinha reiterated that the administration remains committed to dismantling terror networks and securing a peaceful and terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
