Like mother, like daughter; Iltija’s rhetoric against Tiranga rally anti-national: Kavinder

Felicitates Sat Sharma for being elected as J&K BJP chief for second consecutive term

JAMMU,27-01-2025: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta strongly condemned the recent comments made by Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter, Iltija Mufti against participation of students in the Tiranga Rally held in Poonch District.
In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP stalwart said that Iltija is following the footsteps of her mother because the latter had also spoken against the Tricolour in 2017 by claiming that no one will shoulder the Indian flag if the special status of J&K would be tampered.
Kavinder said that the mother-daughter duo cannot stop the nationalist people from raising the Tiranga whether it is Kashmir or Jammu Division. He said, “In a disturbing reflection of her mother’s stance, the remarks are not only anti-national but also an insult to the sacrifices made by countless patriots for the integrity of our country”.
“It is appalling that, instead of encouraging national unity, Mehbooba Mufti’s family continues to undermine the very symbol of India’s sovereignty and democratic values. This rhetoric is harmful and divisive, at a time when the entire nation stands united in upholding the dignity of our national symbols”, he said while adding that Tricolour represents the struggles of millions who fought for country’s freedom and the harmony that binds every Indian, regardless of religion, caste, or region. “The comments made by Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter are an affront to these ideals and should be condemned by all patriotic citizens”, he maintained, while adding that it is high time that the Mufti family realizes the importance of the Tricolour as a symbol of national pride and unity, and stops using it as a tool for political gamesmanship.
Meanwhile, Kavinder along with other BJP leaders called on Sat Sharma and congratulated him for being elected State BJP chief for the second consecutive term.  He said that the party has a lot of expectations from the State President as his wide ranging experience and stellar performance during the first term has raised the asp dir.estatesjmu@jk.gov.in irations of the people in J&K.
