Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi Criticises BJP Govt Over Noida Techie Death: “TINA – There Is No Accountability”

Lok Sabha LoP condemns administrative negligence after 27-year-old dies in Greater Noida drain accident

New Delhi, Jan 20 : The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday slammed the BJP government over the lack of accountability following the tragic death of 27-year-old Yuvraj Mehta, whose car plunged into a drain in Greater Noida’s Sector 150 area.

In a post on X, Gandhi highlighted the systemic failures that endanger citizens’ lives, stating, “Roads kill, Bridges kill, Fires kill, Water kills, Pollution kills, Corruption kills, Indifference kills; India’s urban collapse isn’t about lack of money, technology, or solutions. It’s about lack of accountability.” He coined the acronym TINA  There Is No Accountability, emphasizing the governance lapses behind such incidents.

Following the accident, Gautam Buddh Nagar SDM Sadar Ashutosh Gupta confirmed that action is being taken against those responsible. “This is a very unfortunate incident, and an investigation is underway. Action will be taken against whoever is found guilty,” he said.

The victim’s family, however, alleged gross administrative negligence, claiming that timely intervention could have saved Yuvraj Mehta’s life after he struggled in the drain for nearly two hours. Speaking to ANI, his father Rajkumar Mehta said, “My son was crying out for help, asking people to save him, but most of the crowd just watched. Some were even recording videos. The officials present were unable to help; they did not have divers.”

Rajkumar demanded strict action against the responsible authorities and urged the implementation of better safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
