LoP Sonia Gandhi Pays Tribute to B.R. Ambedkar, Vows to Defend Constitution
LoP Gandhi hails Ambedkar’s legacy of equality, justice, and human dignity, reiterating commitment to defend India’s Constitution.
New delhi, Dec 06 : Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday paid tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his death anniversary, observed as Mahaparinirvan Diwas. Gandhi emphasized that Ambedkar’s enduring commitment to equality, justice, and human dignity continues to inspire his determination to safeguard the Constitution of India.
Taking to social media platform X, LoP Gandhi said, “Humble tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his Mahaparinirvan Diwas. His timeless legacy of equality, justice, and human dignity strengthens my resolve to defend the Constitution and inspires our collective struggle for a more inclusive, compassionate India.”
Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge also paid homage, stating, “On Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar’s 70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas, we offer our profound gratitude to the ‘Architect of our Constitution’ and an unflinching voice for social justice. Today, more than ever, we are called upon to uphold, preserve, and defend the values he lived for and his greatest gift to the nation, the Constitution of India.”
Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, expressed his respects, highlighting Ambedkar’s vision for equality, social justice, and empowerment, urging the nation to work towards an inclusive, progressive India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also remembered Dr. Ambedkar, praising his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to justice, equality, and constitutionalism. In his post on X, Modi said, “Remembering Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Diwas. His ideals continue to guide our national journey and inspire generations to uphold human dignity and democratic values. May his principles keep lighting our path as we work towards building a Viksit Bharat.”
Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb, was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a tireless advocate for the rights of Dalits and other marginalized communities. He passed away on December 6, 1956, and was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 1990. His birthday, April 14, is celebrated annually as Ambedkar Jayanti.
