LPG Cylinder Price Hiked by ₹50 for All Consumers, Including Ujjwala Beneficiaries: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri

New Delhi, 07-04-2025: In a move that will directly impact household budgets across the country, the price of cooking gas has been increased by ₹50 per 14.2-kg cylinder. The announcement was made on Monday by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri. The hike affects both general consumers as well as beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the flagship scheme aimed at providing subsidized LPG connections to women from below-poverty-line households.

With this revision, the cost of an LPG cylinder for general category users will rise from the existing ₹803 to ₹853. Meanwhile, consumers enrolled under the Ujjwala scheme will now have to pay ₹553 per cylinder, up from the earlier rate of ₹503. The price increase is effective immediately and has been implemented by oil marketing companies following a review of global fuel prices and domestic fiscal parameters.

The hike has triggered widespread concern among common citizens, particularly in rural and economically weaker sections of society who rely heavily on subsidized LPG for their daily cooking needs.
