Maharashtra: ED, ATS Carry Out Joint Raids in Padgha Over Suspected Terror Funding

Coordinated operation targets financial channels linked to terror activities in Thane district; multiple residences searched.

Thane, Dec 11: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday launched joint raids in Padgha, Thane district, in connection with suspected terror funding, officials confirmed. The coordinated operation began early in the Bhiwandi region.

Officials said the searches were based on findings from earlier ATS operations in Borivali village, Padgha. Teams conducted searches at multiple residences while the ED examined suspicious financial transactions potentially linked to terror related activities. The ATS is assisting the federal agency in the ongoing investigation.

Authorities stated that further details will be shared after the conclusion of the raids and preliminary assessments. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terror financing channels and monitor individuals and groups under suspicion.

Previous crackdowns in Padgha

June 2025 ATS operation: Earlier in June, the ATS and Thane Police carried out raids at the residences of 22 individuals in Borivali, Padgha. The searches targeted suspected members, including former SIMI office bearer Saquib Nachan. Authorities recovered 19 mobile phones and several incriminating documents linked to radicalization.

2023 NIA raids: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had also conducted searches at multiple locations in Padgha over suspected terror-related activities. Saquib Nachan, who was arrested during that phase, passed away in June this year at a Delhi hospital.

The latest raids underscore Maharashtra authorities’ continued focus on curbing terror funding and extremist networks in the region.
