Maharashtra Man Wins Praise for Removing Posters from Metro Pillars, Sets Example of Civic Responsibility
Karthik Nadar’s simple act of removing posters from Mumbai Metro Line 2B draws praise from citizens and Metro authorities, inspiring others to maintain clean public spaces.
Mumbai, Nov 8 — A resident of Maharashtra, Karthik Nadar, has won widespread appreciation for his civic sense after he removed illegal posters from the pillars of Mumbai Metro Line 2B, setting an example of responsible citizenship.
Nadar shared photos of himself peeling off a poster pasted on a Metro pillar on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the issue of unauthorized advertisements defacing public infrastructure. “Guess who decided to take things into his own hands? Me. Some idiot decided to paste his biz ad on the Mumbai Metro Line 2B’s pillar. I took it down. Can’t spoil the aesthetics, na,” he wrote in his post.
The post quickly went viral, earning praise from netizens and the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL). The Metro authority lauded Nadar’s effort and confirmed that action was being taken against the salon responsible for the illegal poster.
“Big shoutout to citizen hero @runkarthikrun for peeling off what didn’t belong. And a reminder to The Sobo Nail Salon who pasted it: your job is to beautify, not vandalise,” MMMOCL posted on X.
Social media users hailed Nadar’s initiative, calling it a “commendable act of civic responsibility.” One user commented, “If I was living in Mumbai, I would have come to give you a hand,” while another wrote, “Nice work, mate! The 2B pillars, for a change, look aesthetically pleasing and need to be kept free of such eyesores.”
The MMMOCL also reminded the public that pasting illegal posters or advertisements on Metro property is a punishable offence under Section 62(2) of the Operation and Maintenance Act, 2002.
Nadar’s action has not only earned admiration but also reignited a broader conversation about citizens’ role in keeping public spaces clean and visually appealing.
