New Delhi, 27-03-2026: The Ministry of External Affairs Fact Check unit has dismissed as false a series of social media posts and news reports alleging an “Iran donation scam” in Jammu and Kashmir, terming the claims completely fake and baseless. The clarification was issued amid the circulation of misleading content online, which had triggered confusion and concern among sections of the public.
In an official post on X, the MEA Fact Check unit firmly rejected the claims and shared screenshots of the viral reports marked prominently with the word “FAKE” to counter the misinformation. The move was aimed at preventing the further spread of unverified narratives that could mislead people and disturb public confidence.
The Ministry also appealed to the public to remain cautious and not fall prey to fabricated reports circulating on digital platforms. It advised citizens to rely only on verified and authentic sources for information, especially on sensitive issues capable of generating unnecessary panic or misunderstanding.
The fact-check intervention underscores the growing challenge posed by misinformation on social media, where false claims can spread rapidly and acquire unwarranted credibility. By issuing a public clarification, the Ministry sought to reinforce the importance of responsible information sharing and to caution users against amplifying baseless allegations without verification.
