Mehbooba Mufti Criticizes BJP’s Hybrid Political System, Declares It a Failure in Jammu and Kashmir
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti Accuses BJP of Using J&K as a Political Testing Laboratory
27-09-2023 : Mehbooba Mufti, the President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, delivered a scathing critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) political approach in the region. She asserted that the BJP’s hybrid political system had unequivocally failed in Jammu and Kashmir and accused the party of using the region as a testing ground once again, this time concerning the postponement of elections.
Speaking at a press conference in Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti argued that the BJP’s hybrid political system had not achieved the desired outcomes in J&K. She further contended that political parties created by the BJP were ill-equipped to address the concerns of the local population. She pointed out that the BJP had previously exploited Jammu for its political agenda but was now facing opposition from the very people it had deceived with empty promises and slogans.
Mehbooba Mufti highlighted that the BJP had used Jammu and Kashmir as a testing laboratory in the past, particularly in matters related to Article 370, Article 35(A), and other critical issues. She accused the BJP of attempting to transform the region into a testing ground once again, this time in relation to the postponement of elections. She argued that this contradicted the BJP’s earlier claims of normalcy returning to the region following the abrogation of Article 370.
According to Mufti, the BJP had realized that its hybrid political system had failed, and it was now facing the prospect of losing support in Jammu as well. She claimed that the people of Jammu had been deceived in the name of regionalism, and the BJP had made concerted efforts to damage the communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims in J&K.
Mufti further asserted that if the BJP were to return to power in the 2024 Parliamentary elections, it would likely scrap the election process across the country. Her remarks underscored the deep-seated concerns and political tensions surrounding the BJP’s actions and policies in Jammu and Kashmir.
