Meteorological Department predicts widespread rain in Kashmir and light showers in Jammu division

06-05-2023 : On Saturday, the Meteorological Department predicted that there would be widespread moderate rain and thunderstorms in the Kashmir division over the next 24 hours. Additionally, there is a possibility of light rain and thunderstorms in scattered places throughout the Jammu division during this time. For the following two days, the forecast predicts fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorms throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a Meteorological Department official, the rain and thunderstorms are most likely to begin in the late afternoon and evening in many areas of Kashmir, such as Zojila-Drass, and in the Jammu region by night. From May 7-8, rain and thunderstorms are expected in many places throughout Jammu and Kashmir. The official also warned that hailstorms and gusty winds may occur at scattered places.

From May 9-12, mainly dry weather is expected. The official urged farmers to postpone spraying their orchards and harvesting their crops until May 8th due to the expected rain. Furthermore, tourists were advised to keep warm clothing and eatables ready, as the weather is expected to be colder until May 8.
