Meteorological Forecast: Widespread Light to Moderate Rain Expected in Jammu and Kashmir Over Next 24 Hours

Srinagar, 03-04-2024 : The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a forecast indicating widespread light to moderate rainfall across the region of Jammu and Kashmir over the course of the next 24 hours. According to the latest predictions from the MeT office, the weather pattern is expected to be characterized by partly to generally cloudy conditions, with the likelihood of experiencing light rain or snow in many areas. Additionally, there is a possibility of thunder or lightning occurring towards the evening hours on Wednesday. However, it is anticipated that April 4th will see dry weather prevailing.

Looking ahead, isolated places may experience light rain or snow on April 5th, after which the weather is expected to remain dry from April 6th through April 10th. In light of the forecasted inclement weather, farmers have been advised to suspend their farm operations on April 3rd and 5th.

The presence of cloud cover has contributed to an improvement in temperatures across the Kashmir valley, with readings remaining above normal. In Srinagar, the temperature recorded a low of 8.0°C, representing a 1.6°C increase compared to the previous night. Similarly, Pahalgam saw a temperature of 2.5°C, which was 0.8°C above normal, while Gulmarg settled at 2.0°C, marking a 2.8°C deviation from the norm for the ski resort located in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, as reported by the MeT office.
