MHA Takes Firm Action: Declares Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam Faction) an Unlawful Association Under UAPA
New Delhi, 27-12-2023 : The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has officially designated the ‘Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction)’ or MLJK-MA as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Home Minister Amit Shah conveyed this decision in a statement, highlighting the organization’s involvement in activities deemed anti-national and secessionist in the context of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a communication posted on social media, Home Minister Amit Shah declared, “This organization and its members are engaged in anti-national and secessionist activities in J&K, supporting terrorist activities and inciting people to establish Islamic rule in J&K. The PM @narendramodi government’s message is loud and clear that anyone acting against the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of our nation will not be spared and face the full wrath of the law.”
Masarat Alam, a prominent figure associated with the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction), played a significant role as one of the main organizers of pro-Azadi protests in the Kashmir Valley in 2010. Following those protests, he was arrested along with several other leaders and remained in detention until his release in 2015.
The declaration of MLJK-MA as an unlawful association signifies a stern stance by the government against activities that pose a threat to the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of the nation. This move aligns with the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order and combating elements that engage in anti-national and secessionist endeavors in Jammu and Kashmir.
