Mir urges party cadre to punish 2014 betrayal with a decisive mandate for Aga Syed Mehmood

Srinagar, 30 Oct: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President (Kashmir) Showkat Ahmad Mir Thursday delivered a clarion call to party functionaries and grassroots workers of Budgam, urging them to convert the anger and betrayal of 2014 by PDP into a decisive mandate for NC candidate Aga Syed Mehmood in the upcoming by-elections.

Addressing a meeting of block and constituency-level leaders, Mir said the people of Budgam still bear the scars of the 2014 “political deceit” that paved the way for instability, unemployment, and erosion of people’s trust. “Those who bartered people’s mandate for power must be held accountable at the ballot box. This election is not just about one seat, it’s about restoring the dignity of democracy that was subverted in 2014,” Mir said.

He called upon every NC worker to strengthen the campaign from “every mohalla to every village,” ensuring that Budgam sends a strong message against opportunistic politics. “Our struggle has always been for the voice and welfare of the people, not for personal gain. Aga Syed Mehmood represents that legacy of sincerity, service, and sacrifice,” Mir asserted.

Reaffirming the National Conference’s commitment to secularism, inclusivity, and grassroots empowerment, Mir said the people of Budgam have a historic opportunity to close the chapter of deceit and open one of development and dignity under the banner of the NC.

“The people of Budgam know who stood by them in their hardest times and who betrayed their trust for the lure of office. This time, let the verdict be clear and uncompromisingly punish the betrayers of 2014 with your vote. Elect Aga Syed Mehmood with a thumping majority and let Budgam lead the way in reclaiming Jammu and Kashmir’s political honour,” Mir said.
