High-level talks led by Vikram Misri and Marco Rubio spotlight trade, defence ties, and Quad cooperation
WASHINGTON, Apr 10: India–US bilateral relations received fresh momentum as Marco Rubio is set to visit New Delhi in May, following a series of high-level discussions in Washington with Vikram Misri.
During his three-day visit, Misri held a key meeting with Rubio at the White House, where both sides reviewed strategic cooperation across sectors such as trade, critical minerals, and defence, along with coordination within the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue. The engagement reflects growing alignment between the two nations on regional and global priorities.
Senior US officials, including Christopher Landau and Allison Hooker, also held separate discussions with Misri. Talks focused on strengthening economic collaboration, enhancing security partnerships, and expanding diplomatic engagement.
The discussions additionally covered evolving developments in West Asia and the Persian Gulf, with both sides exchanging views on regional stability and shared concerns. Officials reiterated their commitment to advancing cooperation through multilateral platforms like the Quad to ensure a secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
Meanwhile, parallel diplomatic developments saw J. D. Vance leading a delegation to Islamabad amid ongoing efforts to stabilise tensions in the region following a temporary ceasefire arrangement.
