New Delhi, 11-01-2025: Amit Sharma, the Administrative Secretary for Information & Communications Technology (ICT) and Cooperation, Mizoram, held exclusive discussions with Microsoft’s global team during the prestigious Microsoft AI Tour in New Delhi this week. The high-profile event, led by Microsoft’s Global CEO Satya Nadella, brought together key leaders and officials to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence and cloud-based solutions across India. Sharma, widely acknowledged for spearheading IT innovations in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh during his earlier tenures, represented Mizoram and engaged in forward-looking talks to strengthen the state’s technological landscape.

As a Special Guest at the event, Amit Sharma held focused deliberations with Microsoft executives Abhishek Bose and Sumit Mukherjee, emphasizing the need for advanced AI-led training and certification programs for Mizoram’s government employees. These programs, to be provisioned under Microsoft’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, aim to bridge the skills gap and equip state employees with cutting-edge expertise in AI technologies. The agreement marks a significant step toward empowering Mizoram’s workforce in adopting AI-driven solutions for governance and public services.

In a bold and collaborative move, Sharma also announced plans to host a Virtual Boardroom Meeting from Mizoram. This pioneering initiative will bring together IT Secretaries and senior officers from all states and Union Territories for an interactive orientation session led by Microsoft’s top AI experts. The agenda is to familiarize participants with global advancements in Artificial Intelligence and explore practical applications tailored to each region’s unique governance and development needs. This cross-state collaboration aims to establish Mizoram as a leader in digital transformation while fostering a collective national effort toward AI adoption.

Beyond training and collaboration, Sharma explored a range of Microsoft’s technological offerings, including the Azure platform and cloud-based solutions. Discussions centered on leveraging these tools to optimize Mizoram’s ongoing and future projects. The dialogue underscored Microsoft’s commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure in the North East, particularly in Mizoram, identified as a state with immense potential for tech-driven growth.

Expressing his appreciation, Sharma thanked the Microsoft team for their focus on the North Eastern region and their proactive approach toward Mizoram. He highlighted the importance of this collaboration in achieving the dual objectives of IT modernization and widespread AI literacy, which is crucial for the state’s socio-economic development. With initiatives like these, Mizoram is poised to become a beacon of innovation and a model for other states in adopting transformative technologies for public welfare.
