Modi govt is vindictive towards congress leadership – Bhalla
Strong protest dharna by Congress in Jammu
Jammu, July 26- Congress today staged a strong protest dharna at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu against the alleged vindictive actions of Modi govt towards Congress leadership and termed it dictatorial and anti democracy approach of BJP.
A large number of senior leaders alongwith prominent activists and workers carrying play cards and raising slogans against Modi government and BJP for its vindictive actions against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi , in National Herald case, held a peaceful protest dharna under the leadership of working president Raman Bhalla accompanied by several senior leadership including Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, General Secretaries Yogesh Sawhney, Th Balwan Singh, Former Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma, Gurbachan kumari Rana, Ch Gharu Ram, Treasurer Rajnish Sharma, Former legislators Ved Mahajan, Krishan Bhagat, A.S. Micky, INTUC president Shiv Kumar Sharma, PYC president Udey Chib, districts presidents Hari Singh Chib, Pankaj Dogra, Sanjeev Sharma, Gurdarshan Singh, Pranab Shagotra, Vijay Sharma, Rajveer Singh, Ashok Gupta, Babal Gupta, and others.
The protestors charged BJP government of Shri Narinder Modi of being anti democratic in its mindset and approach and indulging in personal vendetta and misuse of central agencies against opposition especially Congress leadership to divert attention of people from the failures and misdeeds of the government.
Addressing the gathering Shri Raman Bhalla hit out at the BJP-led Central government, accusing it of indulging in cheap vendetta politics to divert attention from issues such as inflation, falling GDP growth, social unrest, and its divisive policies in the country. He said the case of money laundering was hollow and baseless. Congress shall not be intimidated by such cheap tactics. The fake and fabricated case of AJL, Associated Journals, is an attempt by the BJP’s propaganda machinery to divert the attention of citizens from the failures and vital issues of inflation, falling GDP and social unrest, divisiveness in the country under Modi regime. Money laundering case on which summons is issued, with no money involved, he added.
Bhalla said, from 2014 to ’15, the ED had not thought it fit, till today because they know they have no material to seek summons about the Congress president or the former Congress president. Today, on the same facts, exactly the same alleged acts and omissions, ED issued summons to divert attention on the same facts.”With regard to the case, he said AJL had come under financial stress over the decades, following which the Congress stepped in and gave “Rs 90 odd crores” as financial support over a period of time, from 2002 to 2011 in 100 installments.
He explained that AJL did what every company in India does, what every company does. What is known as the basics of corporate activity. It converted its debt into equity. So this debt of 90 crores was assigned to a new company. It is called Young India, so that the books of AJL become debt-free. Young India, in turn, which received the debt was a newly created company under a special provision of the Companies Act — Section 25 — which has very two vital conditions. It has to be a not for profit company by definition, by statute and by law and no dividend can be given to its shareholders or directors, so you cannot take a penny.”
