Nana Patekar Dies at 75, Indian Cinema Loses Veteran Actor
Veteran actor Nana Patekar was declared dead at a Goa hospital early Thursday after doctors failed to revive him despite prolonged CPR.
PANAJI, Oct 8: Veteran actor Nana Patekar died at his residence in Goa during the early hours of Thursday after suffering a heart attack, according to doctors.
The 75 year old actor was found unconscious at his apartment in Dona Paula, near Panaji, and was subsequently taken to a private hospital, senior doctor Dr Shekhar Salkar said.
Salkar said medical staff performed continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for nearly 45 minutes in an attempt to revive Patekar, but he could not be saved.
The actor was declared dead at around 5.10 am, the doctor said.
A medico legal case has been registered in connection with the death, while authorities are expected to conduct a postmortem examination, Salkar added.
