National Medical Commission Pushes Innovation Through Healthcare Hackathon
Medical colleges urged to promote participation in AI-driven health solutions initiative
India, Apr 09 : The healthcare education sector is witnessing a push toward innovation as the National Medical Commission (NMC) has called upon medical colleges to participate in a nationwide hackathon under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The initiative, organized by the National Health Authority, aims to develop technology driven solutions for automating claims processing under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Medical institutions have been directed to encourage students, researchers, and professionals to take part in the competition.
The hackathon is designed to promote the use of artificial intelligence and digital tools in improving healthcare delivery systems. It also provides a platform for collaboration between academic institutions and healthcare professionals.
The final event is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru in May 2026, bringing together innovators from across the country.
This initiative reflects the government’s focus on integrating technology into healthcare and nurturing innovation through academic participation.
