PM Modi Vows Swift Justice for Daughters of Manipur Paraded Naked
20-07-2023 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on the incident of women being paraded naked in Manipur have elicited strong emotions and a commitment to swift action. Addressing reporters at the Parliament complex before the commencement of the Monsoon session, PM Modi expressed profound pain and anger over the disturbing incident, which had deeply shamed the entire nation of 140 crore Indians. He assured the countrymen that no guilty individuals involved in the heinous act would escape punishment and emphasized that the law would act with the utmost firmness.
The incident in Manipur, wherein a video emerged on May 4 showing two women from one community being paraded naked by a mob from another community, has sent shockwaves across the country. PM Modi stressed that such an act was an affront to any decent society and had tarnished the reputation of the entire nation. He called for the strictest action against those responsible, expressing his strong belief that such a heinous crime could never be forgiven.
As the Prime Minister of India, PM Modi requested all chief ministers to intensify the enforcement of law and order in their respective states, particularly in cases of crimes against women. He emphasized the need for states to prioritize the safety and security of women, mentioning Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh as examples while calling for better law enforcement and protection of women.
