NC committed to restoration of Statehood and Constitutional Rights: Dr. Farooq Abdullah

Says People of Jammu & Kashmir fully aware of the reality of the BJP and its proxies

Srinagar, 31 Jul: The  Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Friday reaffirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to securing the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and the revival of the constitutional and democratic rights of its people. He expressed confidence that, with the blessings of Almighty Allah and the continued support of the people, the National Conference would ultimately achieve these objectives.

Dr. Farooq  said that the National Conference has weathered numerous political storms, challenges, and difficult periods throughout its history, emerging stronger each time with the support of the people. He asserted that the party would once again lead Jammu and Kashmir through the current challenges and continue its struggle until the aspirations of the people are fulfilled.

Dr. Farooq said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot expect meaningful representation from parties who are reluctant to upset the BJP. He said that such parties were created solely to divide the voice and mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Referring to the recent protest at Jantar Mantar, he remarked that these parties were so apprehensive about displeasing the BJP that they chose not to participate, instead offering various excuses for their absence.

Calling upon the Central government, Dr. Farooq urged the immediate restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and the initiation of the process to restore the constitutional and democratic rights of its people. He maintained that the decision of August 5, 2019, to bifurcate the erstwhile state into two Union Territories was a historic mistake. According to him, reducing a historic state to the status of a Union Territory marked a dark chapter in India’s democratic history and represented an unprecedented setback to democratic principles.

Meanwhile, Dr. Farooq visited the revered Hazratbal Shrine, where he offered Friday prayers. On the occasion, he prayed for the dignity and well-being of the Muslim Ummah, the welfare of humanity, and lasting peace, prosperity, and happiness for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
