NCC and NSS Units Organize Blood Donation Camp to Celebrate World Blood Donors Day
Date: 12th of June 2023: Under the Patronage of 4 J&K Bn NCC Unit and NSS Unit of Dogra Degree College and Dogra Law College organized Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Govt. Hospital Samba. Total 50 cadets and students volunteered to donate blood during a camp held at the college premises. The camp was held to mark the “World Blood Donors Day” which is celebrated on the 14th of June every year.
A mobile blood collection van of Govt. Hospital Samba was deployed and Para Medical Staff under the instructions and supervision of Dr. Sandeep Rangroo assisted in the blood donation drive. The camp started with a motivational lecture by Dr. Sandeep Rangroo, Nodal Officer, Govt. Hospital Samba. He explained to the cadets the importance of blood donation. He said it is difficult to get donors for patients suffering from thalassemia and cancer and voluntary donations can serve the cause of such patients.
While inaugurating the camp Dr. Vidhi Bhatial, Chief Medical Officer, Samba said that it is a global call for the students and cadets to come forward to donate blood voluntarily and stressed that blood donation is a selfless contribution that benefits the patients who need care.
The highlight of the day was a visit by Commanding Officer, Col. R M Sharma 4J&K NCC Battalion who not only motivated the cadets and student volunteers to donate blood but also led them by example by donating blood himself. The visiting officer also distributed the B Certificates & Camp Certificates. The day-long camp in which NCC Cadets of Dogra Law College, Dogra Degree College along with staff members and other students donated blood generously. It was heartwarming and encouraging to see the overwhelming responses of students especially girls who queued up in large numbers for their turn to donate blood.
During the opening of the camp Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Kr. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Member Trustee, Dogra Educational Trust, Dr. Darshana Sharma, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges & CD, Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal, Dogra Degree College, Prof. V P Magotra, Principal, Dogra Law College were present to motivate and applauded the volunteers. Director DGC & Principal DDC appreciated the efforts of Mr. Gulshan Sharma, CT/ANO Dogra Degree College and Ex-Subedar Om Prakash, CT/ANO Dogra Law College to initiate the idea of organizing a camp and motivate students for this Nobel cause.
The voluntary blood donation camp was conducted successfully by Dr. Sandeep Rangroo, Nodal Officer, Govt. Hospital Samba, ably assisted by Dr. Deepika Kumari (Pathologist), Mr. Parminder Singh (Senior Lab Technician), Ms. Neelam (Junior Staff Nurse), Mr. Satpal Bhagat (Basic Health Worker), Mr. Tejinder Singh (Driver).
