NCERT Sets Up Panel to Revamp Class 11-12 Political Science Textbooks
A 20 member expert committee will work on revising the senior secondary books in line with the National Education Policy and the latest school curriculum framework.
New Delhi, Aug. 21: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has constituted a 20 member expert panel to undertake the revision of Political Science textbooks for Classes 11 and 12, marking another step in the ongoing overhaul of school level learning material.
The exercise is part of the broader textbook revision process being undertaken under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023.
The panel will examine the existing content and work towards developing updated learning resources for senior-secondary students. The revision is expected to align the textbooks with the broader curricular changes introduced under the new education framework.
NCERT has been gradually revising school textbooks as part of the implementation of the new curriculum structure. The process is aimed at making classroom learning more relevant while incorporating changes recommended under NEP 2020.
The revision of Political Science material is significant for students in Classes 11 and 12, when they are introduced to concepts related to politics, governance, democracy and political institutions.
The move comes amid wider efforts to update school curricula and textbooks across subjects. The revised material is expected to reflect the objectives of the latest national curriculum framework while maintaining academic standards.
