Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, 1985 batch IPS, has been appointed as the new Director of CBI

 25-05-2021: Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, a 1985 batch IPS, has been appointed as the new director of the CBI. The decision was taken at a meeting of the High-Level Committee held on Monday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The committee included Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

Personal Ministry issued an order appointing him. The post of CBI director has been vacant since February. Presently Additional Director Praveen Sinha is its interim chief.

Uttar Pradesh DGP HC Awasthi, SSB DG Kumar Rajesh Chandra, and Home Ministry Special Secretary VSK Kaumudi were leading in the race for CBI chief for two years, but finally, Subodh Kumar Jaiswal’s name was finalized. He will hold this post for two years. Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been the DGP and ATS Chief of Maharashtra. He is currently the director-general of the CISF. 58-year-old Jaiswal will retire in 2022.

Subodh Jaiswal, a senior IPS officer, is considered an officer of impeccable image. He has also been awarded the President’s Police Medal in 2009 for his outstanding work in the police service. Jaiswal is also called the master of spies. He has also served in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He has also served as Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. Jaiswal has led the investigation in several major cases.

While in the Mumbai Police, he was the chief of a special team investigating the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam. The 2006 Malegaon blast was also investigated by Subodh Kumar Jaiswal. He has also worked in the Intelligence Bureau of the Special Protection Group (SPG) protecting the Prime Minister, former PMs, and their families. Subodh Kumar, who worked with four Prime Ministers in a career of 36 years.
