NH-44 Open for Traffic as Snowfall Closes Mughal, Sinthan and SSG Routes
Traffic Police urge commuters to rely on official advisories as snowfall shuts key mountain roads
Jammu/Srinagar, Dec 21: Traffic is moving smoothly on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) from both directions on Sunday morning despite prevailing inclement weather conditions, officials said.
An official from the Traffic Department confirmed that the national highway remains open for vehicular movement amid wet weather.
However, the Mughal Road, Sinthan Road and the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road have been closed for traffic due to snow accumulation at various stretches, the official added.
Commuters have been advised not to pay heed to rumours and to rely only on official updates issued by the Traffic Police.
The public has been urged to check the latest road status through the Traffic Police’s official social media handles, including the Twitter handle @Traffic_hqrs, the Facebook page facebook.com/jammuandkashmirtrafficpolice, or by contacting the Traffic Control Units (TCUs).
Travelers have also been advised to exercise caution and plan their journeys strictly in accordance with official advisories, keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions.
