NIA Chargesheets Five in Cambodia Cyber Slavery Racket

Victims were allegedly lured with fake overseas job offers, confined in Cambodia and forced into cyber fraud operations.

New Delhi, May 16: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against five individuals, including an absconding alleged mastermind, in connection with a Cambodia linked human trafficking and cyber fraud racket, officials said on Friday.

According to investigators, the accused operated an organised network that targeted Indian youths with promises of lucrative employment opportunities abroad before sending them to Cambodia, where they were allegedly forced to participate in online scam activities.

The chargesheet was submitted before a special NIA court in Patna against Anand Kumar Singh alias Munna Singh and four others under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

Three accused  Abhay Nath Dubey from Uttar Pradesh, Abhiranjan Kumar from Bihar and Rohit Yadav from Uttar Pradesh — were arrested in February after returning to New Delhi from Cambodia. Another accused, Prahlad Kumar Singh, is presently out on bail.

The agency stated that victims were allegedly stripped of their passports upon arrival in Cambodia and subjected to severe abuse when they resisted involvement in fraudulent cyber operations.

Investigators said several victims were kept in confinement, denied food and water, and in some instances allegedly tortured with electric shocks.

The probe identified Anand Kumar Singh as the key figure behind the trafficking network. He allegedly coordinated with associates based in Cambodia and recruited victims through sub-agents and travel facilitators across India.

The NIA claimed the accused charged between USD 2,000 and USD 3,000 for each individual trafficked and handed over to fake companies operating scam centres.

The case was registered as RC-10/2024/NIA/DLI, and further investigation is underway to trace additional members of the network and expose the broader international conspiracy, officials added.
