NIA conducts search in Srinagar as part of ISIS Kerala module case

13-03-2023 : On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a search in Srinagar as part of the ISIS Kerala module case. In a statement, the NIA revealed that it had been investigating Mohammed Ameen, who was propagating violent Jihadi ideologies of ISIS and recruiting new members through various social media platforms. Ameen and his associates had identified certain individuals for targeted killings and had planned to undertake terrorist acts in Jammu & Kashmir, raising funds from various sources for this purpose.

During the investigation, it was found that Ameen was in contact with Deepthi Marla, who had attempted to do Hijrah to Khorasan in 2019. In January 2020, she went to Srinagar to plan the Hijrah and stayed there for a week. Uzair Azhar Bhat, a suspected conspirator and common contact between Deepthi and Ameen, was raided at his house in Karfali Mohalla, Srinagar, and digital devices were seized for further investigation.
