Army Neutralizes Rusted Mortar Shells Found Near LoC in Poonch
MENDHAR/JAMMU, Feb 28: Nine rusted mortar shells were recovered in a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday, officials confirmed.
The shells were discovered scattered across the Mankote area during routine Army patrols. Security forces quickly cordoned off the site and called in bomb disposal squads to handle the hazardous materials.
According to officials, all nine mortar shells were safely detonated in controlled explosions, ensuring no damage to the surrounding area. Authorities emphasized that such operations are part of ongoing vigilance along the sensitive LoC region.
