BJP working president likely to become youngest party chief as leaders gather in Delhi for Sangathan Parv event

New Delhi, Jan 19 : BJP national working president Nitin Nabin is set to file his nomination for the post of party national president on Monday, with the election process currently underway at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. The nomination is being held during the party’s Sangathan Parv programme, organised to mark Nabin’s elevation to the top post.

Senior BJP leaders, including chief ministers from BJP ruled states, state unit presidents and members of the party’s national council, are expected to arrive in the capital to participate in the process.

As per the official schedule, nominations are being accepted between 2 pm and 4 pm, followed by scrutiny of papers from 4 pm to 5 pm. Candidates can withdraw their nominations between 5 pm and 6 pm, after which the national election officer will issue a formal announcement at 6:30 pm.

With no other contender expected to enter the fray, Nitin Nabin is likely to be elected unopposed. He will succeed JP Nadda, who has served as BJP national president since 2020. At 45, Nabin is set to become the youngest national president in the party’s history.

Under the BJP’s internal constitution, a candidate must have at least 15 years of party membership and be proposed by a minimum of 20 members of the state electoral college. The electoral college comprises representatives from the party’s national and state councils and will formally ratify the election.

Welcoming the development, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary described Nabin’s rise as a proud moment for the state. He said the BJP would grow stronger under his leadership and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and outgoing president JP Nadda for their support.

“In the BJP, even a worker from the last row can rise to become the national president,” Choudhary said.

Nitin Nabin, a former Bihar cabinet minister, was appointed BJP’s national working president in December last year.
