Bihar, Nov 20 : Bihar gears up for Nitish Kumar’s 10th oath ceremony
Bihar is set for a landmark political moment on Thursday as Nitish Kumar returns as Chief Minister for the 10th time, with a grand swearing in ceremony planned at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan. The event, being organised on an unprecedented scale, is expected to draw lakhs of attendees, marking one of the largest oath ceremonies in the state’s history.
PM Modi, senior Union ministers and 15+ chief ministers in Patna
A long list of national leaders has already reached Patna for the Nitish Kumar 10th oath ceremony.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend as the chief guest, accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda. Governors, Union ministers and at least a dozen chief ministers from states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Goa, Assam, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh are expected in the front rows at Gandhi Maidan.
Several leaders—including Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Mohan Yadav and Brajesh Pathak—arrived in Patna on Wednesday night and checked into Hotel Maurya.
Huge preparations, special arrangements for women
Officials estimate the crowd may exceed three lakh people. In view of the massive turnout of women voters in the NDA’s landslide win, the administration has created special seating and security zones for female attendees inside Gandhi Maidan.
Nitish stakes claim, secures support of 202 NDA MLAs
Nitish Kumar visited Raj Bhavan on Wednesday evening, resigning before staking claim to form the new NDA government. He was accompanied by senior alliance leaders Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
A list of 202 NDA MLAs was submitted to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who then invited Nitish to form the government.
Tight security, traffic restrictions across Patna
With the ceremony scheduled for Thursday morning, Patna Police have enforced strict traffic diversions from 6 am to 3 pm. Emergency vehicles remain exempt.
Major roads around Gandhi Maidan—Bhattacharya Chowk, Dakbungalow, JP Golambar, Rajendra Path, Children’s Park and Bakerganj—have been declared no-vehicle zones. Areas around Hotel Maurya, IMA Hall, Twin Tower and Ashok Rajpath will also remain shut to regular traffic.
Public entry to Gandhi Maidan will be through Gates 7, 8, 9 and 10, while VIP pass holders will enter via Gate 4 on Budh Marg. Parking has been arranged at Magadh Mahila College, A.N. Sinha Institute, SBI premises and Gyan Bhawan.
A historic milestone for Bihar politics
With a massive stage set at Gandhi Maidan and tight security in place, all eyes are now on the Nitish Kumar 10th oath ceremony, which reinforces his stature as one of India’s longest-serving chief ministers.
