NMMS Scholarship 2026-27 Application Deadline Extended to September 30

Education Ministry gives students more time to apply through National Scholarship Portal for financial assistance

NEW DELHI, Sept 7: The Ministry of Education has extended the application deadline for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) for the 2026-27 academic year, giving eligible students additional time to submit their applications.

Students can now apply for the scholarship until September 30, 2026, through the National Scholarship Portal. The extension is aimed at ensuring that eligible students do not miss out on the financial assistance available under the scheme.

The NMMS scheme is designed to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections and encourage them to continue their secondary education rather than dropping out because of financial difficulties.

The programme provides 100,000 scholarships annually, making it one of the key central scholarship initiatives aimed at supporting students during the secondary-school stage.

The scholarship is particularly intended to help students who demonstrate academic merit but face financial constraints. By providing continued financial support, the scheme seeks to improve retention at the secondary level and expand access to education for disadvantaged students.

Students and schools have been advised to complete the application process within the revised deadline and ensure that the required information is submitted correctly through the designated scholarship portal.

The extension provides additional time for eligible applicants who were unable to complete their applications before the earlier deadline.
