‘No Vacancy for CM Post,’ Says BJP’s Samrat Choudhary Amid Speculation Over Bihar Leadership
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary says BJP stands firmly behind Nitish Kumar; calls RJD ‘anti-women’ and dismisses leadership speculation
Bihar, Oct 01 : Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday dismissed speculation about his chances of becoming the next Chief Minister, asserting that there is “no vacancy” for the post and that the BJP continues to back Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
Speaking at NDTV Bihar Power Play in Patna, Choudhary said, “There is no vacancy for Chief Minister. Nitish Kumar showed Bihar the path of development. After 2005, he transformed education students got uniforms, bicycles, and more schools were built. Bihar had 2,000 high schools earlier; now it has 10,000.”
Highlighting the BJP’s long-standing alliance with Nitish Kumar, he added, “In 2000, JDU had 34 MLAs and BJP had 70, yet we supported Nitish Kumar for Bihar’s interest. In 2020 too, he did not want to be Chief Minister, but Prime Minister Modi urged him. As long as Nitish Kumar is there, BJP considers him the Chief Minister.”
Responding to the RJD’s criticism of the government’s ₹10,000 assistance scheme for women, Choudhary said, “RJD is anti women it’s in their DNA. Lalu Yadav opposed the Women’s Reservation Bill, while Modi ji ensured it passed. Nitish Kumar gave 50% reservation to women in panchayati raj institutions. People know who truly supports women.”
On Nitish Kumar’s health speculation, Choudhary took a swipe at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, remarking, “It was raining yesterday a 36-year-old was sleeping at home while a 75 year old was addressing rallies.”
Dismissing Prashant Kishor’s allegations against him, Choudhary said they were rooted in political vendetta from Lalu Prasad’s regime. “Many novices will come into politics; I don’t want to give them much importance. I have been working for 30 years, some for two,” he added.
Choudhary reiterated that the NDA has already delivered on its promises, while the Opposition bloc is “only making empty assurances.”
