NSS Unit of GCOE Jammu Collaborates with IPCA for Plastic Waste Awareness Programme
GCOE Jammu collected plastic waste under 10Kg Plastic Campaign
Jammu, 26-06-2023: NSS unit of Govt. College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) organizes a special awareness programme on Plastic Waste Management under the patronage of Prof. Aekta Gupta, Principal, GCOE.
Students, Teachers of the college participated in the program. The awareness program offered a platform to all students and faculty of the college to get aware of the segregation of dry and wet waste and the use of plastic is considered as one of the great issues that humans are facing in their contemporary life. GCOE has signed MOU with them as it’s a duty to save our environment.
As it is a 10kg Plastic Campaign.As Our college collects the 13 kg of plastic and handover to IPCA under the 10 kg plastic Campaign. Prof. Aekta Gupta said the goal of this Program was to understand the severity of the issue and stop the use of plastic. The Principal emphasized that the Institution is also contributing Plastic on every month. Mr Ranveer Singh, Regional Manager IPCA, highlighted the major challenges faced to the nation as well as Jammu and mentioned that Plastic waste is a major challenge and initiatives to ban plastic have been taken by everyone.
It is the duty of every citizen to think about their environment too. He further said the detailed process of dry and wet waste segregation. It threatens our natural resources such as water, trees, and crops. As plastics get defragmented into small pieces, they get easily swept away into our soil and end up in oceans, then consumed by wildlife and marine life. Thereby, the number of animals and marine life reduces or becomes extinct. It is high time we must understand the intensity at which plastic is destroying our environment.
Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO thanked Ranveer Singh sir on behalf of GCOE, Jammu for imparting the knowledge about the same to staff and students. The programme was attended by the students and faculty members which included Prof. Shapia Shameem, Prof. Sarita Dogra, and prof. Shalini Rana, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Dr. Sushma Bala, Prof. Anuradha Chowdhary, Prof. Neeraj Verma, and Prof. Shalini Sharma.
