Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah Send Well Wishes Speedy Recovery to Injured West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee

28-06-2023 : Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah expressed his heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and the leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). This gesture was made on behalf of his father, Farooq Abdullah. Mamata Banerjee had recently sustained injuries during an emergency landing of the helicopter she was traveling in, caused by adverse weather conditions.

Taking to Twitter, Omar Abdullah wrote, “I join my father in wishing @MamataOfficial ji a speedy recovery. We pray that she is blessed with a long and healthy life so that she may continue to work to improve the lives of the people of West Bengal and the rest of the nation.”

The incident occurred when Mamata Banerjee attempted to disembark from the helicopter at the Sevoke air base near Siliguri, located in the northern part of West Bengal. Due to the inclement weather, the helicopter had to make an emergency landing. Unfortunately, Mamata suffered ligament injuries in her left knee and left hip joint during the process.

Following the emergency landing, Mamata Banerjee flew back to Kolkata via a flight from Bagdogra Airport. Upon her arrival, she was promptly taken to the state-run SSKM Hospital, where she underwent an MRI scan to assess her injuries.

According to officials, the MRI scan was conducted soon after Mamata reached Kolkata. Doctors examined her injuries, and while they did not appear to be serious, they are awaiting the MRI report for further evaluation. The decision regarding hospitalization will be made based on the findings of the report. Multiple specialist doctors are closely monitoring her condition.

Reports indicate that the pilot made the decision to initiate the emergency landing due to severe weather conditions and the helicopter’s uncontrollable shaking. Mamata Banerjee was returning to Kolkata after a two-day trip to the northern districts of West Bengal, where she was campaigning for the upcoming panchayat elections scheduled on July 8.

The incident has garnered attention and concern from various quarters, with politicians and citizens alike wishing for Mamata Banerjee’s swift recovery.

As the medical evaluations continue and Mamata Banerjee’s health is closely monitored, people across the nation are hoping for her quick recuperation, allowing her to resume her duties and work towards the betterment of West Bengal and the entire country.
