Omar Abdullah Hails Karting Star Atiqa Mir for Stellar Performance

10-Year Old Karting Prodigy Atiqa Mir Impresses in Slovakia, Wins Praise from CM Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Sep 25: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday praised 10-year-old racing prodigy Atiqa Mir for her remarkable performance in the Champions of the Future Academy (COFTA) karting series held recently in Orechova, Slovakia. Atiqa finished an impressive fourth, remaining in contention for the top spot for much of the race.

Atiqa Mir is the first Indian to receive support from Formula 1 and is part of the F1 Academy DYD programme, a prestigious initiative aimed at nurturing young racing talent. Earlier this month, she also won the DAMC series in Dubai, further highlighting her growing prowess on the international racing circuit.

Taking to X, CM Abdullah said, “Well done to young Atiqa. Her natural talent and enthusiasm for racing shine through. I hope the day is not far when she will be the first Kashmiri to race at the pinnacle of motor racing – F1. Keep up the good work Atiqa and best wishes always.”

The young racer’s achievements reflect India’s rising presence in global motorsports and promise a bright future for aspiring talent from Jammu and Kashmir.
