One Terrorist Gunned Down by Security Force in J&K Encounter

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, one terrorist was killed in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in village Noorpora in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district this evening.

Police sources said that a joint team of security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Noorpora following the intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the village.

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the terrorists fired upon them and one terrorist was killed in retaliation. The identity of the slain terrorist is being ascertained.

Meanwhile, the joint operation in the area was going on when the reports last came in. Further details are awaited.
