Operation ‘Sheruwali’ Enters Third Day as Hunt for Suspected Terrorists Intensifies in J&K’s Rajouri
Army, J&K Police and CRPF expand anti-terror operation in Gambhir Moghla area after brief gunfight with suspected militants
India, May 25 : Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police continued a massive anti-terror operation for the third consecutive day in the forested areas of Rajouri on Monday to trace suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the region, officials said.
The operation, codenamed ‘Operation Sheruwali’, was launched on Saturday in the Dorimal-Gambhir Moghla belt following intelligence inputs regarding suspicious movement in the area. A brief exchange of fire took place after security personnel established contact with the suspected militants during the search operation.
Officials said tight security cordons and surveillance grids have been maintained across the dense forest zone to prevent any escape. Additional forces have also been deployed to strengthen the ongoing operation.
Security teams equipped with drones, sniffer dogs and advanced surveillance equipment widened the search to nearby areas as efforts continued to track down the hiding terrorists.
Preliminary reports indicated the possible presence of two to three terrorists in the region. According to the Army’s White Knight Corps, contact with the suspected militants was established around 11:30 am on Saturday during the joint intelligence-based operation carried out with police and CRPF personnel.
