Order banning use of crackers near border ‘draconian’, siege on people’s faith: Tony
Seeks LG intervention, allow people to celebrate as per religion tradition
SUCHETGARH, November 2: Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC member Suchetgarh, on Thursday castigated Jammu Administration for arbitrarily ordering ban on use of crackers along the border belt (Five Kilometers) during functions and festivals citing that loud sound could confuse security forces and villagers.
He was speaking after starting the PHE Pipe laying works at village Beaspur in Suchetgarh constituency. On the occasion, Sarpanch Beaspur Shashi Bhagat, Senior SC leader Shamlal Bagat, Sarpanch Tilak Raj Bagat and youth leader Mandeep Choudhary were also present.
The senior Congress leader termed the aforesaid direction issued by DC Jammu as draconian claiming that the same happened to siege the faith of the people to celebrate festivals like Diwali which is fast approaching besides family functions like marriages, anniversaries and birthdays. He said that the incumbent government is going too far as this is sheer interference with the people’s lives and traditions.
The senior Congress leader asserted that the so called championed of people are depriving the people to celebrate their much-awaited festival as per the religious tradition.
Tony said that under earlier dispensations even during the ceasefire violations (CFVs) people were never forced to stop living their normal lives as the present case, where the government is crossing the limit. He demanded that the aforesaid arbitrary order should be rescinded as soon as possible, allowing people to live their lives in a free and fair manner as the government cannot dictate terms in the aforesaid manner.
Addressing the gathering, Tony said that giving fillip to development was his top priority and he will work tirelessly to ensure all the amenities and facilities to the people. Tony assured the inhabitants of the area that he will take up all their issues and will not stop until each and every problem is mitigated to the satisfaction of concerned people.
He assured that public service and welfare of society will be his benchmark approach. “Come what may, I will not take rest until the ultimate goal of making Suchetgarh a model area is not achieved”, he vowed.
