Over 6.5 Crore Women Screened in ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ Initiative: Nadda

Historic two week drive concludes with nationwide health check-ups, screenings, and vaccination drives to empower women and strengthen families

New Delhi, Oct 4: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda announced that over 6.5 crore women were screened through nearly 18 lakh health camps across India under the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ campaign, describing it as a “historic milestone” in women’s healthcare.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, the two week long campaign concluded on October 2. In a post on X, Nadda said, “This extraordinary achievement reflects the nation’s collective resolve to place women’s health at the heart of strong families and thriving communities.”

The campaign also screened more than 1.78 crore citizens for hypertension and 1.72 crore for diabetes, while breast and cervical cancer screenings covered over 37 lakh and 19 lakh women, respectively. Oral cancer screening reached more than 69 lakh people.

Additional efforts included 62.6 lakh antenatal check-ups, vaccinations for over 1.43 crore children, screenings for anaemia (1.51 crore), tuberculosis (85 lakh), and Sickle Cell Disease (10.23 lakh). Nutrition counselling sessions reached 1.16 crore people, while 10.69 lakh Ni-kshay Mitras were registered.

The campaign also saw 4.3 lakh blood donors registered and the issuance of over 10.69 lakh Ayushman/PM-JAY cards, reinforcing India’s commitment to comprehensive healthcare and women’s empowerment.

Nadda called for sustaining the momentum by encouraging every woman to prioritize regular health check-ups and lead a path toward a healthier and empowered future.
