Pakistan Grapples With Escalating Violence and Lawlessness in Balochistan

Killings, abductions, and tribal clashes expose Pakistan’s persistent security crisis in its most volatile province.

Balochistan, Nov 10 : A fresh wave of violence has swept across Pakistan’s Balochistan province, leaving at least nine people dead and two others abducted in a series of attacks across Kalat, Nasirabad, and Jhal Magsi districts, highlighting the region’s deepening security crisis, according to a report by Dawn.
The deadliest assault occurred in Kalat district’s Khaliqabad area, where unidentified gunmen ambushed residents in the Sarbund locality, killing four people, including tribal leader Shakir Saadullah Langove and his brother, Shakir Khairullah Langove. Levies officials identified the other victims as Muhammad Karim and Muhammad Zahir. The attackers fled the scene, prompting a swift investigation by local authorities.
In a separate incident in Panjgur’s Shpistan area, two men  Muhammad Zafar and Muhammad Naeem  were fatally shot by motorcycle-borne assailants. Their bodies were moved to the district hospital, while the motive behind the killings remains unclear.
The violence spread to Nasirabad district, where two excavator drivers, Aashiq Ali Mohammad Hasni and Shakeel Ahmed Korai, were abducted at gunpoint near Rabi Canal Sufi Wah within the Notal police station limits. The assailants left behind the machinery as they escaped, triggering a large-scale search operation to locate the kidnapped workers.
Meanwhile, in Kachhi district, a man identified as Abdul Qadir Kurd was shot dead in Goth Misri Khan by unidentified gunmen. In Jhal Magsi, a long-standing land dispute between the Solangi and Wazdani Magsi tribes erupted into armed conflict, killing one person, Muhammad Bachal Magsi. Security forces intervened to prevent further escalation.
Adding to the unrest, prominent tribal elder Sardar Hussain was assassinated in Dalbandin, Chagai district, by unidentified shooters near the district headquarters. His body was shifted to Prince Fahad Hospital for post-mortem.
Police have collected forensic evidence but are yet to determine the motives behind the attacks. The surge in killings, abductions, and tribal clashes underscores the persistent breakdown of law and order in Balochistan  a region long plagued by militancy, political unrest, and the government’s inability to restore stability.
