Pakistan Team Protests Umpiring Decision Following DRS Controversy vs Bangladesh

Disputed review decision in final over sparks debate after Bangladesh overturns wide call.

Pakistan, Mar 16 : A dramatic finish to the third One Day International between Pakistan national cricket team and Bangladesh national cricket team was overshadowed by a contentious Decision Review System (DRS) moment that triggered protests from the Pakistan side.

The incident occurred on the penultimate delivery of the match when Pakistan required 12 runs from two balls. Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was on strike as Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain delivered a ball drifting down the leg side.

On-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena initially signalled the delivery as a wide. However, Bangladesh opted for a review under the Decision Review System, questioning whether the ball had made contact with the bat.

During the replay, UltraEdge technology registered a spike, indicating a possible edge. The decision sparked immediate frustration from Afridi, who engaged in an animated discussion with the umpire regarding the legitimacy of the review.

The moment quickly became the centre of controversy, with Pakistan players questioning whether the appeal should have been allowed in the first place. The disputed decision came during the closing stages of the match and added further tension to the already intense contest.

The incident has since drawn attention from cricket observers and fans, with debates emerging over the application of DRS protocols in match-defining moments.
