Panun Kashmir Urges Acknowledgment of Genocide: Demands Thorough Investigation Amid Denial of Hindu Killings

Panun Kashmir (PK) Calls for Acknowledgment of Genocide and Comprehensive Investigation

Jammu, 10-08-2023 : Panun Kashmir (PK) has put forth a pressing demand, urging both the Union Territory (UT) Government and the Union Government to confront the hard truth that a thorough reinvestigation into the case of retired Session Judge Neelkanth Ganjoo’s killing cannot yield accurate insights without abandoning the stance of denial towards the genocide of Hindus in Kashmir. Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman of PK, emphasized that the investigation, even if carried out with impartiality, would inevitably clash with the barrier of denial surrounding the Hindu genocide issue. This barrier, he stated, forms a fundamental element of the ruling BJP’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir.

Chrungoo voiced his concerns, stating, “As soon as the investigation confronts this wall, the probe will evaporate or melt away.” He critiqued the entrenched denial of the Hindu genocide, asserting that it has become institutionalized by the Indian State. According to Chrungoo, the policy of denial has been built on the incorrect premise that acknowledging the Hindu genocide would contribute to further alienation of Muslims in Kashmir. However, he argued that this denial has instead allowed the forces responsible for the genocide to regain strength and political power, hindering inclusive and tolerant governance in Jammu and Kashmir.

The chairman of PK condemned the current government’s policies, claiming that these policies have unwittingly turned the Government of India into an accomplice and collaborator in the ongoing campaign of genocide against Hindus in Kashmir. He further alleged that these policies have set the stage for the expansion of genocide and Jihad to other parts of the country.

Chrungoo urgently called upon the government to take decisive action against the ongoing genocidal assault on Hindus in Kashmir. He stressed that the time has come to weaken and thwart the forces that aim to propagate this genocidal agenda throughout India. He also pressed for recognition of the fact that the recent killings of Hindus in Kashmir, leading to their expulsion, were part of the broader genocidal strategy. Chrungoo argued that the current policy of encouraging their return effectively exposes them to the same genocidal enterprise they fled from and should be promptly abandoned.

Furthermore, Chrungoo urged the Government of India to acknowledge that the Hindu population in Kashmir has fallen victim to genocide and to formulate a law for the prevention and punishment of genocide, aligning with the UN convention on this matter. He underscored the gravity of the situation by characterizing the killings of Hindus in Kashmir as crimes against humanity rather than ordinary criminal acts.

Proposing a concrete solution, Chrungoo suggested the creation of a new Union Territory north and east of the river Jehlum for the rehabilitation of Hindus from Kashmir. He argued that this step could serve as a permanent measure to reverse the ongoing genocide.

During a press conference, other PK leaders, including Bihari Lal Koul (Organizing Secretary), M K Dhar (Press Secretary), P L Budgami, and Raj Nath, were also present to support and discuss the organization’s stance on the matter.
