Pharmacist Dies Two Days After Assault by Unidentified Attackers in Mendhar, Poonch
Mendhar pharmacist succumbs two days after assault; police detain suspects as probe advances
Jammu, Nov 14: A junior pharmacist from Mendhar died on Friday, two days after he was brutally attacked by unidentified persons while on his way to work.
Officials said the victim, Shabir Ahmad Choudhary, a resident of Dharna Mendhar and posted with the Health Department, was assaulted on November 12 while heading to the Sub Centre Chattri. He was initially taken to the Sub-District Hospital Mendhar and later shifted to GMC Rajouri. From there, he was referred to GMC Jammu due to the severity of his injuries.
BMO Mendhar, Dr Ashfaq Choudhary, confirmed that Shabir suffered multiple fractures along with critical lung and liver injuries. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed on Friday.
Meanwhile, police have registered an FIR and intensified the investigation. A police official told GNS that several leads have emerged and a few suspects have already been detained for questioning in connection with the Mendhar pharmacist attack.
