PM Modi Hails Bhagwat’s Lifelong Contribution to Social Transformation & National Harmony
Prime Minister praises RSS chief’s role in fostering harmony, social change, and inspiring youth
New Delhi, Sep 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat for dedicating his life to societal transformation, harmony, and nation-building. Calling Bhagwat’s tenure since 2009 “the most transformative period in RSS’s 100-year journey,” Modi described him as a leader of intellectual depth, empathy, and adaptability.
In an article published in several newspapers on Bhagwat’s 75th birthday, the prime minister said the RSS chief embodies the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and has consistently steered the organisation through evolving social challenges without compromising its core ideology.
Highlighting Bhagwat’s leadership style, Modi noted his ability to connect with youth, encourage public discourse, and adapt the Sangh’s activities to modern needs. He praised Bhagwat’s support for government initiatives like Swachh Bharat Mission and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, as well as his Panch Parivartan framework—social harmony, family values, environmental awareness, national selfhood, and civic duties.
“Bhagwat ji’s leadership reflects continuity and adaptation. He has a natural connection with the youth and constantly inspires Sangh volunteers to integrate into society’s changing needs,” Modi said.
The prime minister also recalled Bhagwat’s early years as an RSS pracharak during the Emergency, his grassroots work in Vidarbha, and the legacy of his father, Madhukarrao Bhagwat, who was also an RSS leader. Modi emphasized that Bhagwat’s transformative role included significant changes within the organisation, from uniform modifications to training structures, while remaining deeply anchored in values.
“Bhagwat ji has always been a votary of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,’ believing in the celebration of India’s cultural and traditional diversity. His leadership continues to strengthen trust, brotherhood, and equality in society,” Modi said.
